We watched the Berlin Fair fireworks through my chaise window! GREAT view, over the trees. They were really good, much better than the "groovy" North Carolina 4th of July 'works. I like the ones with the really deep rumbly-feeling booms.

Dean's sick, so we lay around and watched Iron Man on DVD tonight. It was thoroughly enjoyable. (Here's the zebra stand with its tray drawer extended.)
The autumn bag passed its test-drive with flying colors. I like the strap! It's very comfortable, even though it's a little strange. And the Treo pocket is really excellent... it's extremely easy to get Palma in and out, something I do a lot of. (Much easier than in my winter bag, which is made of the same kind of scarf material but is a little taller and narrower.) I officially like it! And the colors are the best. Natch.
Here are three more views: 1) front, B) back, 3) innards. The lining makes me happy! And I wouldn't have believed it, but the colors really are real autumn colors. That's what it's starting to look like around here now. I forgot to take a side view to show off the alignment.

I failed to post about this weekend, so here are the photos instead. 1) New Hampshire trees (aerial view, natch). 2) Head balloon that's over one year old but still alive, albeit very shrunken. I got it on August 4th, 2007, the same day I bought the balloon to use as a base for the pinata I made for my dad's birthday bash last year. It's lived on Dean's bookshelf all this time, but I brought it into my room to photograph on Sunday. That's my Golden Guide collection in the background. 3) Fuzzy yellow guy in Jaffrey, encountered on path walking to Kimball Farm from the airport. He was extremely speedy. 4) Tango's oil change! Dean did it all by himself (with minor assistance from me) and spilled NO drops! Unlike the huge Mr. Bean situation his first time (which, fortunately, I was not around to witness). It only took a little over two hours. Lots of ingenious funnel rigs!

More photos later (must go use bag now), but here's the finished bag, and the zebra stand in action! (And for the first time ever, the bag colors look completely accurate!)
I'm very pleased with how it came out, especially the way the lining fits and how well the rectangles line up (both on the front and back panels and also the side connections between the front and back). The rectangles required a lot of re-doing of seams to get the alignments perfect, but I wanted it right. The only part I'm not sure about is the strap. I think I made it a bit too stiff. But that's a minor quibble, and more a matter of preference than something I think is wrong; plus, it'll probably soften up with use anyway. As for the grill stand, it is fantastic!!! I was grilling some stuff on Monday and realized, Wow, I can use the tray drawer...! and I did, and it was so superior. I love LOVE my zebra stand. I can't believe how pretty it is.

Wow! I finally memorized my cell phone number. (I've had the same cell phone number since... 2004 I think.) As a result I forgot our home phone number, though. I don't have room in the brain for both.
Smitty came early this morning (not his real name but I keep calling him that because he's a locksmith) and installed the new front door fixtures, so we are no longer door handleless. I really, really, really like them. They are nice, and look pretty spiffy with the new burgundy paint. We had to special order them since the ones we liked best weren't stocked at the normal store. As usual.
