That was longer than I thought, but at least I posted it. Our door got coat #2 this morning, so it's officially burgundy now. The painter kept calling me "young lady" and "miss" nonstop. :-)
I went to Klekolo World Coffee, and for the first time all summer they weren't playing scary June music that makes you want to run away. They were playing "Broken Arrow"! (The real RR version.) Quite the contrast. So I actually got my single bohemian in a real cup and stayed there to drink it.
We're going to Sunny Maine for the long weekend, but I'll be back Monday night. (And no, I will not be eating any brains this time.)

Saturday we went to Block Island, maybe for the last time this summer. We biked to Cooneymus Beach, and it was grand; I feel so alive hounding on Block. Downhills and ups, but not an overmuch of ups. The only really hard part was Cooneymus Road, which is sandy, so we had to get off and push our hounds. Bikes are hard to push on sand, especially if you have no upperbody strength. I love Cooney. We had it all to ourselves. And it smelled like Cooneymus.
I went for a very short walk and pretended I was a starfish farmer. I harvested FIFTY-FIVE stars in the tidepools. All live ones. Piled them all in a big pile, tube feet squirming, photo'ed and counted them, then put them all back. Again in a big cuddly heap. I went back several times to check and see how long it would take them to crawl apart. Only one went very far, hanging off the side of a rock with all its translucent peach-colored feet sticking out.
We had a Harry's for supper, by the light of a single table flame; I couldn't see my lobster roll, but it was really good. Pedaling back to the airport in the dark, the moon hadn't yet risen and I kept having to stop myself from staring up into the sky instead of keeping my eyes on the road. There were so many stars. It was unbelievable. I just kept staring and staring. I don't remember ever seeing so many stars. Flying home, we could see the Milky Way. I've never seen the Milky Way in Tango. I don't think I've seen the Milky Way ever.

Cat report: Total distance - 12.50 miles; Average speed - 9.0 mph; Max speed - 28.4 mph; Total time - 1:22'54.
Back at the hangar, I e-mailed in a request to Rockin' Ron and it got on the radio, just as we were leaving. I was grinning like a loon. He mentioned us twice, first quoting me mentioning that he had a request from Brainard where we were "hangin' out in our hangar" (RR: "I guess that's what you do at an airport...") listening to his show, and then, again, when he played the song after a break, he said it was "for the folks at Brainard airport." We were totally cracking up giddily. :-)

This morning I had a dream about SkyFlakes. (Unfortunately, I can't remember the context.) I also had a dream about scuba-ing in (I think) a lake, and running into a thick slushy ice section. I was really surprised because the rest of the water wasn't that cold. Clearly the scuba part was because the lady at Jimmy's was obsessed with scuba. There was lots of other weird stuff in the dreams, but those are the only parts I can (just barely) remember. I kept forgetting over and over, all day long, each time remembering for two seconds and just barely grasping on before forgetting again. Snagged it this time and wrote it down quick before it was gone.

Wow, the Painter Dude is going to do our door today! No more pink. (Even though we liked the pink.) New color: RED. Well, burgundy actually.
Does anyone say "telephone" anymore? Apparently I do. Yesterday at Jimmy's I said, "I telephoned my husband," then afterwards thought how weird that probably sounded, especially since I was referring to calling him on my cell phone. Or my cell telephone. Heh.
Also yesterday, we went to the North Haven SBUX after Jimmy's, and the cashier blurted out, "You're super cute, by the way!" then followed up, "Just... your hair, your outfit, the whole you..." She was so sweet! It was especially nice since I was feeling kind of drained and distracted. And I wasn't even wearing a very cute outfit, as my outfits go. I was trying not to look too goofy, so I didn't have on pink or orange or a skirt with giant flowers, or anything like that.
I still didn't write my super-short illustarted post about Saturday, but I will. I guess it's okay to have anti-linear entries, since this is Anti-Linear Brain after all. Maybe I'll even finish my 4th of July entry, too. Ha.

If you dye a pale blue/light turquoise thing with fuchsia dye, but only dip it in the dye for one second, it turns the most perfect shade of soft mauve.
I was driving around this afternoon again in buoyant spirits, nebulously thinking "I LOVE SUMMER!!!" No specific reason that I know of... just... perfect, perfect days. Ever since the extra-hot stretch of July broke, we've had such beautiful weather. I want to capture it--to articulate it--but I know I can't.
Suder was back at the Suder Store today, and I told him I'd missed seeing him the past few times I'd been in, so he told me his entire schedule! I immediately forgot it half a second later, except for the part about him being off on Wednesdays. I love going to the Suder Store and buying local produce, and I love the sky, and the green, and the sun, and the warm air. And long days and lobsters and starfish and bare feet and starry skies.
I have to post about Saturday (a short post, but there's pictures).
